As you scroll down your Instagram or Facebook timeline, have you ever thought about what you are actually doing; what you are actually looking for? It's an interesting question and there is no singular answer, but the behaviour is nonetheless a common one, to which people devote an enormous amount of time.
This chapter uses a psychological approach to discuss what we are looking for, and what we are actually getting from the social media timeline.
